Hoops International Medical Graduates have to Jump Through

IMG Requirements

by Your Man in Australia on July 13, 2012

If you have done the hardwork of a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or similar. Here is a quick step by step process of how to get started in getting qualified and finding sponsored work in Australia.

How to get Australian Medical Council (AMC) Accreditation/Recognition?

Do you need AMC before you can start applying for jobs?

1. From what i can gather, you really have the best chance to get a Sponsored Job in the Australian Medical Industry with AMC accreditation.

2. To be AMC accredited you will need to apply to the Australian Medical Board has the solution for IMG's that want to get started in Australia with a Limited Registration, Postgraduate training or supervised practice.

3. I have also found trainee job listings that do not specify the requirement to be accredited with AMC, so yes you can get a job without AMC, But they do require that you are Registered with the Australian Medical Board.
Have a look at a couple of listings i have found,

4. So with AMB Limited Registration, i can not see why you could not get a job like the ones above, and then apply to the Australian Medical Council (AMC) to do your accreditation.

5. Then with AMC, one can apply for General Registration with AMB.

Then you are as far as my understanding goes, you are ready to go for your ultimate sponsored employment or medical job in Australia.

Good luck!
